Configuring Oracle GoldenGate OGG 11gR2 downstream integrated capture – Download
In the article you will have a look at an example configuration of an OGG downstream integrated capture extract in a RAC environment (RAC database is used for a source, downstream and target). You will briefly review some new OGG 11gR2 concepts and have a glimpse of the prerequisites and steps to configure a simple (one extract, one remote trail and one replicat) OGG replication using a downstream integrated capture. You will see how I resolved the problems that I encountered during the OGG configuration.

In the article you will have a look at an OGG configuration example for local integrated capture and discover how to deploy some of the powerful OGG features related to data mapping and transformation. Starting from OGG 11gR2 Oracle implemented an integrated capture, in addition to the already existing transaction log capture now a day called classic capture, only from Oracle RDBMS data sources by integrating the OGG extract with the database logmining server. OGG mapping and transformation is a feature that works with both classic and integrated capture enabling complex transactions to be replicated across heterogeneous environments. I will cover each topic separately in the following sub-sections.
- Example of local integrated capture using OGG 11gR2
- Example of mapping and transformation using OGG 11gR2
The article is based on OGG 11gR2 environment configuration previously described here.

In this article you will have a look at some basic fundamentals related to keys, supplemental logging and before and after images related to deploying OGG for transactional data replication using Oracle RDBMS as a source and/or target database. I will cover some OGG related concepts and you will glimpse at some practical test as an illustration. The concepts covered in the article apply to both CLASSIC and INTEGRATED capture, introduced in OGG 11gR2, once the specifics and nature of each capture methods are understood and taken into account. For information related to OGG setup look at here.
